Antique Aero Engineering is a family business operated by Wayne and Stuart Tantrum.
Wayne's background started in the automotive industry and after completing his apprenticeship
and trade certificate went on to join the RNZN as a marine technican serving on HMNZS Canterbury
and HMNZS Wellington as leading hand of both boiler and engine rooms. Leaving the navy in 2001
he went on to work at Wairarapa Aviation (now The Vintage Aviator ) maintaining and restoring vintage aircraft.
Gaining his Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence in 2007, he went on to form Antique Aero Engineering Ltd
.

Stuart has been involved in New Zealand Aviation for 40 years in both Sport  and Vintage aviation.
Stuart built his first vintage aircraft , a SE5a (Replica) in 1978, restored  Tiger Moth ZK-ALX 1n 1982,
and later built the first Fokker triplane in New Zealand, ZK-FOK in 1985. Stuart owned and operated
these aircraft for many years, displaying at many airshows and sharing his passion for vintage aircraft.
 An active member of the Tiger Moth Club of New Zealand, he has been very instrumental in sharing his
knowledge and skills in helping Club members with their restorations. Stuart had his own successful
business, Antique Aero Works, and in 2007 decided to semi retire. Stuart still continues to work at
Antique Aero Engineering passing on his knowledge and skill to future generations.
